Look at all these lovely faces of the family members who came to join us for our first Hazelhut Camp lunch of the year. The sun shone as we welcomed these 8 gorgeous girls who will grow so much in the days to come. The kids couldn't wait to see all that the Hazelhut had to offer, from the veg patch..... ....to the woodlands.... .....and of course they all wanted to cuddle Giugiolina! We had watermelon and crisps for snack! There was time to try out the skipping rope before we all went to the art room to do some art! There was plenty of free time to make stuff and break the table tennis table(!) as well as jump around the house..... By the time the lasagne arrived, we were all famished! What a great first day!

Luckily we love surprises and 3 extra Hazelhutters was a wonderful addition to our day! We soon set the girls to work making burgers for our barbecue lunch while the boys lit the fire. The sun came out from behind the clouds and we all enjoyed hanging around near the camp fire. Pretty soon everyone was getting hungry so James distracted the children with a game of SPLAT! while Ottavia cooked the meat. Lunch was delicious and we even had some chunks of chocolate as a treat afterwards! In the afternoon we drew some pictures using all different kinds of pastels and everyone enjoyed the chance to relax in the cool environment. Later we finished making the elderflower cordial we had started yesterday. There was just enough time for a few more of the children's favourite games before all the parents arrived. Then it was time to say 'Goodbye!' and to look to the summer ahead! Can't wait to see you all again, Hazelhutters!!!!
A lovely bunch of Hazelhutters, 'old and new', came to see us today for a day of fun! We had a delicious snack and then went out into the glorious sunshine to see the animals and all the lovely things growing around the Hazelhut. Then we began our printing workshop in the art room. We had a delicious lunch made mainly from the things we had gathered in the veg patch earlier. Next we made some elderflower cordial to offer our families tomorrow. Since no one had any homework we read a story together for English hour. Next was everyone's favourite activity - the scavenger/treasure hunt. The children found all 10 objects on the list and then they were clever enough to work out the code and find the treasure! Then they went into the orchard to find some of nature's treasure. Not forgetting all those delicious fava beans! Before dinner we all enjoyed skipping in the evening sunshine. We all enjoyed a delicious dinner and now everyone is laughing as we watch 'Mousehunt' before bed. What a fabulous day!
