We are both teachers who have been working in the field of international education in Italy for over 15 years.  We have developed a strong bond with the Italian countryside and with the many families we have had the privilege to work with.  In part the Hazelhut was born from our awareness of how children in the international system often 'lose' some of their English language use during the long summer holidays.  We also believe that the principles of the IBO's educational system, with which we are both accustomed to teaching, can be further applied in a natural learning environment.  We felt that there needed to be an English speaking place, which mirrored school, but allowed for far greater freedom and variety: a place which international schools could lean on and a place with something for everyone, where individuality is recognised in a fun and environmentally respectfully way - and so the 'Hazelhut' concept was born!  When we found the physical building complete with swimming pool, tennis court, woodlands and garden as well as the all important family feel, the Hazelhut became a reality.
