Ottavia and James are both trained teachers with many years of experience working with young children and in a range of education systems. Thanks to their expertise, the Hazelhut can offer excellent experiences to schools and colleges. These can include over-night trips, day trips and subject specific outings. We are able to collaborate with visiting teachers in order to tailor their students' experience to the requirements of their curriculum or educational needs. The fantastic facilities at the Hazelhut make a wide range of learning opportunities possible, from exploring science and geography through the surrounding farm and nature, to the creation of pictures and sculptures in the well resourced arts room and much else besides. Of course all of these experiences occur in English and enable children to use English in practical and meaningful situations. What the teachers have said about their experience at the Hazelhut:
'The group of 3rd, 4th and 5th graders I took to The Hazelhut had such a positive and creative experience, they are still talking about it 6 weeks later! Ottavia and James are able to create activities which tie in to whatever the students are studying, and everything is in English. There is space to play, to experiment, to explore, and to create. For the teacher, there is the chance to sit back and observe your students while someone else is directing attention, which is invaluable, as we all know how busy we get, and how hard it is to find time to look up and notice what our students are doing, how they are interacting, and how their learning is progressing. I would recommend The Hazelhut to any teacher wishing to expose students to more English, in a natural and relaxing setting. We can't wait to go again!'
