Our first activity of the day was blowing and decorating eggs. What a lot of fun! Sadly we said 'goodbye' to one Hazelhutter who had to go home early..... But we cheered ourselves up by making a batch of cupcakes. Later in the day we decorated them with dried fruit and sugar flowers. When the rain stopped falling, the children enjoyed some free time and played with the new walkie talkies. After a lunch of sausages in buns and carrot sticks, the children listened to a story about the cops and robbers of London town and played with the musical instruments. The weather improved so we headed outside to say 'hello' to Giuggiolina, Pingpong, Storm, Timidy and of course Floppy, Toppy and Brava. Then we took out the new archery equipment and hit some targets. Once the children had improved their skills, they made some great shots! As usual hometime crept up on us all too fast.... Goodbye everyone, come back soon!

We are so happy to have 5 Hazelhutters here for the weekend! They could hardly wait to meet our new rabbits, now named Giugiolina and Ping Pong! They also named the hens: the black one is called Storm and the white one is called Timidy. Once we had greeted all the animals we went for a lovely walk in the spring sunshine, looking at the flowers and following the tracks of wild animals. Then we did an art activity, decorating flower pots to plant with seeds. The children chose lovely colours for their pots and later planted them with flowers, basil and tomatoes. They watered them and left them to get warm in the sun. Just before lunch, a strange thing happened - the Easter Bunny visited the Hazelhut and left chocolate eggs all over the garden! He must have got confused! anyway, the children had great fun finding all the eggs, well almost..... one is still somewhere amongst the plants! After a tasty lunch of pasta and pesto, fish-fingers and sweetcorn, the children completed their weekend homework! Then it was time to go outside and plant some potatoes. I think we have some budding farmers here - these kids were so cooperative and enthusiastic!!!! Once all our potatoes were sown, it was time to relax in the art room, making jewelery. It was a fantastic workshop and I think we will have some happy mums tomorrow! After some free time, when the children played a game of hide and seek, we all sat down to a super tasty dinner of chicken and potatoes, made by our favourite chef - Marilena!!! Grazie tanto! Ironically right now all the children are watching 'Chicken Run' an animated film about chickens trying to escape the pot!!!!
