The Hazelhut makeover is 99.9% complete and we were so happy to show it off to some wonderful families at our Open Day on Sunday.
If you couldn't make it, but would like to visit before summer camps begin, please contact us direct.
It was wonderful to welcome 38 students and their teachers from Marymount school last week.
They came to play in the woods and on the sports pitch and to learn about the plants and animals which surround the Hazelhut.
They enjoyed finding eggs and picking fresh strawberries.
What a big group we were for lunch!
All too soon it was time for Marymount to return to Rome. Come back soon!
Yesterday we welcomed the reception class from St. Thomas's School to the Hazelhut to learn about the ecosystems in the garden.
Once we got to know all the students names we ate a nice healthy snack, ready for all the learning ahead.
The first ecosystem we went to look at was the new Hazelhut pond. There were already plants and miniature pond creatures living in the pond, but we did not have a big animal living there, so the children helped to release Theo, the goldfish into his new home.
The students enjoyed looking to see Theo adapt to his new environment. We think he will be very happy in his outdoor home.
Next we went to the compost heap to look at the little creatures which keep the soil alive for all the plants to feed from.
Next we went to see the rabbits and the children picked them some dandelion leaves, which they love to eat!
The children were excited to meet Smokey and Fluffy and to watch them enjoy their outdoor habitat.
Soon the chickens came to say hello, so the children had a look at their house as well. They even found eggs!
Some of the children gave Brava a stroke.
Our tummies were starting to grumble so we headed back to the Hazelhut for a hand wash and some lunch - via the strawberry patch of course!
In the afternoon, we played a game to help the children learn about which animals are garden friends and which are not.
Then we went to the art room and all made a fly eating frog!
Then there was just enough time to enjoy the new sports pitch before all the parents arrived! Thanks for coming and see you soon!
