We were delighted to welcome a record number of children and their teachers from Marymount school to the Hazelhut today! Unfortunately their bus was too big to get through Ronciglione so we had to make a long detour, but when they finally got here, the children were ready for action. Their day out was based around the senses. In their teams - porcupines, hedgehogs, foxes and badgers, all kids headed into the woods. The first stop was the chicken coop, where we gathered the eggs and some children had the chance to pet Floppy. Next we explored the chestnut grove and meadow. We heard many different bird sounds and even made some sounds of our own. We saw many wild flowers and even some animal burrows. After the long walk, the children were hungry. It was time to make pizza! Mmmmm, tasty! After lunch and a play on the pitch, the children put their memories of today into a large piece of artwork. Each child built on the work that had gone before to make a beautiful frieze of their day out. Then it was time to say 'Goodbye' and wave off the big bus. The Hazelhut wishes to thank all the children for their positive attitudes and the teachers for their cooperation and support on a very busy day! Come back soon!
