On a bright but chilly morning, we prepared to welcome the grade 2 class from St. Thomas's school for a day trip to learn all about light and the view of the sunrise seemed most appropriate. After we got to know each others' names, the children listened carefully to instructions then went into 4 Hazelhut rooms with dramatically different lighting. How did each room make them feel? Scared? Excited? Happy? While the children had many different feelings about the rooms, we all agreed that lighting can change our mood instantly. The children enjoyed their lunch and a play outside. Clearly there are some future football stars at St. Thomas's! Some of the girls learned to skip for the first time. In the afternoon we made our own festive sources of light - Christingles. These were popular at Christmas time in some Eastern European countries. The children also enjoyed a festive story...... ....then sent Santa their wishes in a traditional way. We raced through the woodlands.... .....and all too soon it was time to say 'Goodbye!' Come back soon!
