We had lunch at the Hazelhut and then a huge thunderstorm broke and the rain poured down. James took the opportunity to make some headway with a novel the boys began a few nights ago.
When the storm finally passed we headed to the picturesque town of Caprarola for a little tour and a delicious local ice cream. We spotted a pig on the return, grazing on the lush green at the side of the road and even found some wild plums to bring home.
Back at the Hazelhut the children set about planting flowers from the farm shop and they have certainly brightened things up.
Thankfully the weather held in the evening and we all enjoyed the much anticipated camp fire, lit by flint! We toasted marshmallows and baked chocolate bananas on the embers, then listened to many fireside stories before bed time.
