It was an early rise for most of the children at the Hazelhut today..... so we had an early breakfast too! Then the children tidied their rooms and had the chance to explore their surroundings. At 9.15am we went to meet Marius at the bus for our trip to the baths. It was another lovely day and the children had a lot of fun being like true ancient Romans - relaxing and socialising in the health giving waters. Later we had a snack and a walk to look at other the other Roman ruins from the settlement. Back at the Hazelhut James had been busy organising a barbeque and many of the children helped to prepare the lunch. The sizzling sausage sandwiches were enjoyed by all. After lunch things got serious as we carried out the summative assessment discussions... As a reward for their hard work, the chiildren enjoyed chocolate baked bananas by the fire - accompanied by the banana song of course! Then we all changed and got our creative heads on for the tune in to the exhibition unit on 'How we express ourselves'. The main focus was on using sketch books as a study recording tool. The students listened really well and showed great enthusiasm for the new unit. They really took to their sketchbooks and were full of ideas. After that we went for an evening walk to get some inspiration from our beautiful surroundings. Then there was a surprise for us at the pizza restaurant - a birthday party for one of the children and tons of food! After a very big feed we made our way back for a good rest. A domani!
