We were so happy to welcome 16 Prep students to the Hazelhut today, to celebrate the end of their unit: 'From Farm to Table'. They learned about how the Hazelhut produces hazelnuts and chestnuts for market, by visiting the grounds on foot and in the tractor. Then they went to see the things we use for personal consumption - like eggs from the hens and fertiliser from the rabbits for the vegetable garden. Next we walked up to the vegetable garden and looked at the produce growing there. Then the children planted some tomato seeds for us to eat this summer. Finally it was time for lunch and we made pizzas! After lunch, the children enjoyed playing in the warm sunshine. Then we went to the art room to relax and reflect on our favourite moments from the trip. Before we went home, there was time for one more rendition of 'The Farm Song' and the story of 'The Little Red Hen'. We hope your next unit is as much fun as this one!
