We really enjoyed meeting all the enthusiastic students from Marymount who came to the Hazelhut to learn about plants today. They hunted for plants in the grounds, using observational skills and then categorised these plants depending on their uses. Next the teams split, with one group heading to the veg patch and the other in search of herbs and naturally occurring plants which can be eaten by man. After we had collected enough for a small salad we returned to the house for a well deserved lunch. Our special salad was served after lunch and showed how healthy these Marymount kids are: they woolfed it down! In the afternoon each child filled a pot with soil and chose a promising sunflower seed to plant. They watered them and made sure they will have plenty of sun. They wrote their names on a label and decorated the pot with a picture and then left them in a row for the slowest competition going..... whose sunflower will grow the tallest? Don't forget to check this blog every 2 weeks to find out which sunflowers are winning. Goodbye Grade 3, come back soon!
