This weekend the Hazelhut became the venue for a Thanksgiving bonanza. After lots of preparation and even adding some new bunk beds, we were ready to welcome 14 guests. The weather on Saturday was crisp and wintery and we could see for miles. The American hostess and her Italian husband/assistant instantly got to work preparing all the components of the very special meal. As more people arrived, there were more helping hands. A table was set, packages were opened, fires were stoked, pots began to bubble and bit by bit the meal came together. Meanwhile, the children ran all around, played pool or made pictures in the art room. The boys helped James burn leaves in the garden, which turned into the main activity of the evening! In no time at all the meal was ready and we all sat down to the MOST delicious feast!!!! Of course there were dishes to be done..... But also time to make merry before a well deserved rest! The next day was extremely windy, but all the children bravely ventured out into the wintery woodlands for a frolic. Then we all ate the leftovers of our Thanksgiving feast on which our hostess had somehow worked her magic, making them taste every bit as good as the original meal! All too soon it was time to say goodbye. Thank you so much for choosing the Hazelhut for your event - come again next year!
