We were so touched by the enthusiasm of the 17 friends of the Hazelhut who came to our annual gleaning day after the hazelnut harvest.
The sun shone for us as we searched for left over nuts in the woods.
No one grumbled as they gleaned for over an hour before the trumpet finally sounded for lunch.
Then each team brought their nuts to be weighed and headed for the table for a meal inspired by...hazelnuts of course!
Primo: Farfalle alla gricia con nocciole
Secondo: Vitello farcita con porcini, salsicia e nocciola, patate e spinacci
Dolce: Torte di mela e torta di pera con crosta di nocciole e semifreddo di nocciola
It is hard to believe but these enthusiastic and active folk even had enough energy after that to go into the forest on a mushroom hunt.
Not every one found mushrooms but the forest had other treasures to share!
All to soon it was time to announce the winners - who had picked the most hazelnuts? Then we all wished each other well and said our goodbyes. We would like to thank everyone who came for making this such a happy and memorable day - come back soon!
