Today we walked to the local town of Ronciglione. We explored the medieval area and looked inside the duomo, as well as inside the oldest church in town. We were lucky to be able to visit the house of Suora Mariangela Virgili, who did many kind things for the poor people of this are in the 17th and 18th century. The children also stopped to draw the famous unicorn fountain which marks the town centre. Their pictures were super! Then it was time for the much anticipated shopping to begin! Having spent their money on gifts and souvenirs, we sat down to a delicious lunch of very tasty pasta al pomodoro and veal followed by vanilla ice cream in a beautiful local restaurant. The children had a swim when they got back as the uphill walk was hot, hot, hot! In the evening James taught the children how to use a flint and steel to make fire and we lit our own campfire. We used it to cook burgers, bake chocolate bananas and roast some marshmallows. By that time it was very late, so after an extra strong tooth scrub, the children went to bed and Miss Moll read them a story. There was silence soon after!
