We had a wonderful sports day today, even though the weather wasn't always great.... but, as they say in the UK, 'At least it didn't rain!' All the children tried new things from badminton to catching rugby balls to skipping to archery and they all did fantastically well.
All the children made their own lunches today and we added fresh carrots from the orto and cherries from our tree to the feast. The sports continued after lunch with one of the Hazelhut's most popular games: 'Splat!'
In the afternoon, most of the children wanted to cool off in the pool and enjoyed playing with the new high-powered water pistols!
Later we tried to mix up the boy/girl divide by having 2 mixed teams to play in the walkie talkie treasure hunt and it worked! They cooperated just enough to solve the clues and find the treasure..... then they headed back to separate camps!
Before dinner we lit a fire using a flint and steel and then the pizza arrived and it was delicious!!!! Everyone was very hungry after using up so much energy in the sports.
